The construction sector is undergoing a profound transformation caused by the current context of climate emergency and the need to reduce atmospheric CO2 emissions, which are estimated at 40% of total global emissions.
In this context of change and new ways of building our environment in a sustainable way, OPENLY, an innovative bionic construction system applicable to both new construction and refurbishment projects, has been developed.
OPENLY, in its commitment to decarbonisation, promotes the use of construction materials that not only generate low emissions, but also act as carbon reservoirs, considering buildings as future CO2 reservoirs. OPENLY is an open building system and not a ‘building type’.

Openly also wants to share and extend its building system to achieve the maximum possible positive impact and is sharing this through Openly.lab.
One-day deep-dive training courses for building owners to commission professionals with the right materials, as well as for architects to choose building materials with the smallest possible CO2 footprint and to plan for the long term and in a recyclable way.
In addition to the deep-dive courses, open days are also organised to promote the project, where you can get to know Openly Valley Widnau and see for yourself that another way of building is possible.

HONEXT as part of Openly Valley Widnau first apartment building in Europe to be built completely CO2 neutral.
Openly Valley Widnau is a pilot building located in Switzerland and is the largest “hemp house” in Europe.
The driving force behind the Openly Valley Widnau pilot project was to demonstrate that climate-efficient – or, with carbon capture, even CO2 neutral – construction is possible and Honext is part of this pioneering and hopeful sustainable building in its interior cladding application.
By using 100% waste as raw material, HONEXT® panels are not only circular by design, they are also carbon negative, making them a truly sustainable alternative for the built environment.
Certifications such as Cradle to Cradle Certified® or C2C Certified Material Health Certificate™ GOLD LEVEL endorse our carbon negative products.

As a society, we must change the way we build and transform our environment.
We need to switch to local, fossil-free and preferably cement-free building materials that can be reused for to achive CO2 neutral building.
We are at a key moment of development change towards a circular model and we must join in and accelerate the process if we want to reverse the negative effects of climate change on our planet.
