Staying true to these principles, Estudio DIIR has focused the project on two key concepts: incorporating innovative and sustainable materials and exploring imaginative ways to display items in the store. The architects have chosen HONEXT® Boards for the interior cladding application in the retail store.

CASE STUDY: SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND MODERN AESTHETIC
To enhance the brand identity of Redcast Heritage CO, the architects (Estudio DIIR) propose a harmonious blend of textures and the integration of materials that highlight its sustainable and aesthetic features. As part of the selected materials, they specified Honext with the aim to embody a visual story that gracefully unfolds over time. Achieving warm ochre tones, synonymous with sustainability, involves the strategic use of two distinct materials.
The HONEXT® Boards were mainly chosen because of their texture and natural characteristics, as they are made from industrial fiber waste with no resins. The look and feel of the panels suited the intentions of the architects. They used the HONEXT® Boards as a foundational backdrop, aligning seamlessly with the architects’ commitment to sustainable design. This palette intentionally combines with steel, creating a stark yet elegant contrast that contributes to a clean, refined, and thoroughly modern aesthetic.
PROTECTING THE SURFACE
To safeguard the HONEXT® Boards from dirt and scratches, we recommend consistently applying a water-based varnish to preserve their natural appearance and sustainability attributes. For a uniform surface color, consider utilizing Aqualit-T260 Honext Original from Sikkens. This solution not only shields the surface and preserves the natural aesthetics but also conceals patterns and color variations in the boards.
INSTALLATION OF INTERIOR CLADDING
Regarding cladding installation, the process should involve using pine or similar battens with a minimum cross-section of 40x20mm, securely fixed to the wall or ceiling. Ensure panels are fully secured along the entire long side, maintaining a 40 cm gap between battens for optimal results. Various attachment methods can be employed, including adhesive, adhesive with nails, visible screws, hanging, or technical fastening.
