Upcycled Boards for Sustainable Exhibitions Stands
The HONEXT® Boards were one of the main materials chosen by DearPlanet® for designing, building, and deconstructing the circular stand at Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona. For this design, the HONEXT® Boards were specified as partition walls for the trade show, emphasizing the positive impact of the design.
This choice saved 4,807 kg of industrial fibre waste from landfills and allowed the used HONEXT® Boards to be reintroduced into our certified circular HONEXT® Process to create new material after the event.

CASE STUDY: SIMPLR STAND AT MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2023
In this project, the designers opted to use HONEXT® Boards as partition walls and ceiling coverings to create a minimalistic and inviting booth. The boards are left in their raw state without any finishing, highlighting their natural characteristics. The exposed boards showcase their unique texture and distinct color shades, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the booth. This approach allows for easy dismantling of the partition walls after the trade show, enabling the reintegration of the boards and preventing any waste at the end of the event.
This booth, designed by DearPlanet® , has a clear vision of making a Positive Impact stand that operates under the Net Positive concept. As the first booth at MWC 2023 to embody this vision, it has gained recognition from FRAME, a global platform based in the Netherlands known for exploring the forefront of spatial design, innovation, and creativity.
INSTALLATION OF THE HONEXT® BOARDS
To create a lightweight and easily removable partitioning for a partition wall application, the HONEXT® Boards can be screwed to the structured. This method is ideal when the panels primarily serve an aesthetic or protective function rather than providing structural support.
If you’re installing HONEXT® Boards on a wooden structure, it is advised to use PVA glue in conjunction with screws for optimal performance. To obtain detailed instructions on working with HONEXT® Boards, please refer to the processing and installation manual.
